Payment Methods Overview

Anton Payments supports a variety of payment methods to reach payees around the world. The methods available to you depend on the destination country, currency, and the corridors enabled for your merchant account. This article describes each method and how to determine availability.

Bank Transfer

Bank transfers are the most common payout method and cover several regional payment schemes:

  • SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) — Covers euro-denominated transfers across Europe. Typically settles within 1 business day. Available for EUR payouts to SEPA member countries.

  • Faster Payments (FPS) — The United Kingdom domestic payment scheme. GBP payouts to UK bank accounts typically arrive within minutes.

  • ACH (Automated Clearing House) — US domestic bank transfers. USD payouts to US bank accounts, typically settling in 1-2 business days.

  • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) — Canadian domestic bank transfers for CAD payouts.

  • Direct Credit — Domestic bank transfers in Australia and New Zealand for AUD and NZD payouts.

SWIFT / Wire Transfer

SWIFT transfers are used for international bank-to-bank payments. They support a wide range of currencies and countries but typically take 2-5 business days to settle. SWIFT is often used for higher-value payouts or destinations where local payment schemes are not available.

Mobile Money

Mobile money payouts are available in select emerging markets where mobile wallets are widely used. Payees receive funds directly into their mobile money account. This method is particularly common in parts of Africa and Southeast Asia.

On-Chain (Cryptocurrency)

On-chain payouts deliver funds via blockchain networks. Anton supports payouts in BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, MATIC, AVAX, TRX, DOT, USDT, and USDC. The payee provides a wallet address, and the payout is submitted to the appropriate blockchain network. Settlement times vary by network but are generally fast compared to traditional banking rails.

Card Payouts

Anton supports payouts to Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards. Card payouts can be a convenient option when the payee does not have a bank account or when speed is a priority, as card payouts often settle within the same day.

Checking Method Availability

Payment method availability depends on the corridor: the combination of source currency, destination currency, destination country, and method. To check which methods are available for a specific route:

  • API: Use GET /v1/corridors and filter by destination country and currency. The response includes the available payment methods for each corridor.

  • Merchant Portal: When creating a payout, the available methods are displayed based on the destination you select.

Choosing the Right Method

Consider these factors when selecting a payment method:

  • Speed: Faster Payments and on-chain transfers are the fastest. SWIFT is the slowest.

  • Cost: Local bank transfer schemes (SEPA, ACH, FPS) are generally the most cost-effective. SWIFT tends to carry higher fees.

  • Payee preference: Some payees may only have access to certain methods, such as mobile money or a crypto wallet.
