What Is an RFI?
A Request for Information (RFI) is a formal request from Anton's compliance team for additional documentation or clarification during the merchant onboarding process. RFIs are issued when the information provided in your application is incomplete, unclear, or requires supporting evidence.
RFIs are a normal part of the KYB verification process. They are not a rejection -- they simply mean the compliance team needs more detail before they can approve your account.
When Do RFIs Occur?
RFIs are most commonly issued during:
Initial onboarding -- After you submit your merchant application, the compliance team may request additional documents or clarification on your business structure, ownership, or intended use of the platform.
Ongoing compliance -- Periodically, Anton may request updated documentation (such as renewed IDs or updated proof of address) to maintain your account in good standing.
How to View and Respond to RFIs
Log in to the merchant portal
Navigate to Onboarding or check the notification banner on your dashboard
Open the RFI to see what information is being requested. Each RFI includes a description of what is needed and why.
Prepare your response -- this may involve uploading documents, providing written explanations, or both
Upload any required documents directly in the RFI response form. Accepted formats are PDF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG (max 10 MB per file).
Add any written explanation in the text field if clarification is needed
Click Submit Response to send your reply to the compliance team
RFI Deadlines
Each RFI has a response deadline, typically 7-14 business days from when it is issued. The deadline is displayed on the RFI in the merchant portal.
Important points about deadlines:
Open RFIs block approval -- Your application cannot proceed to the next stage until all outstanding RFIs are resolved
Late responses -- If an RFI deadline passes without a response, your onboarding may be paused. Contact your account manager if you need additional time.
Multiple RFIs -- You may receive more than one RFI. Each must be addressed individually.
Tips for Responding to RFIs
Respond promptly -- The faster you respond, the sooner your account can be approved. Delays in responding are the most common cause of extended onboarding timelines.
Be thorough -- Provide complete information the first time. Partial responses may result in follow-up RFIs, further delaying approval.
Ensure document quality -- Upload clear, legible copies. Blurry or cropped documents will be rejected.
Ask for clarification -- If you are unsure what is being requested, contact your account manager or email [email protected] for guidance.
After Submitting Your Response
Once you submit your RFI response, Anton's compliance team reviews it within 2-5 business days. You will receive a notification in the merchant portal when the review is complete. If the response is satisfactory, the RFI is closed and your application moves forward. If further information is still needed, a follow-up RFI may be issued.
